2009 Sled Tech Preview - Best Taillights: Tie – Yamaha (all LEDs) and Arctic Cat M-series and Crossfire (LEDs)
09/29/2008 - Shane Zeppelin

When it comes to taillights, Yamaha set the bar as high as it could go when they introduced the LED taillight on the 2006 Apex. Now the RS Venture GT, Nytro, Phazer and Apex get the LED taillights in a white lens treatment. Arctic Cat has also added LED taillights to the Crossfire and M-series machines and while not as stylish as the Yamaha’s, they are nice and bright and add the functionality and features that LEDs add.

The advantage with LED lights is that barring an electrical surge, they don’t burn out like incandescent bulbs do. They are solid and secure and don’t flicker, either. LEDs last much longer than incandescent bulbs and can take up less electrical power depending upon configuration. Plus, they are brighter and pierce through snow dust better. The one drawback they have is that they are more expensive and if you do have to replace them, you have to replace the entire taillight. But, I like LEDs and the taillight is an especially keen place to use them.
